7/14/13 - About That Stanford and Broadway Building...

Last month a Santa Monica Mid City Neighbors member brought up the subject of the seemingly abandoned apartment building at the corner of Stanford and Broadway.  The building has sat idle for years.  We've sent a letter and these pictures to the City Planning Department for an update on its status and we'll post any updates we receive.  (Our letter to Planning Director David Martin is below the pictures) In the meantime, feel free to share any information you have about the building, by commenting, below. Dear Mr. Martin,
Could someone on your staff please check the status of the seemingly abandoned apartment building at Stanford and Broadway?  Several Santa Monica Mid City Neighbors have asked about it recently.  Who owns it?  Are there any plans for it?  Is it abandoned?  Thank you for your department's attention to this matter.

UPDATE!  City Planning Director David Martin responded to our email within 24 hours. He says the city will respond with an update soon.  He also says the owner of the property has been trying to renew their permits, but because it's been abandoned so long, the previously approved building no longer conforms to zoning ordinance requirements.
