RECENTLY, MID CITY NEIGHBORS TREASURER ELLEN HANNAN WROTE CITY HALL AND SEVERAL COUNCIL MEMBERS ABOUT PROPOSED PLANS TO PUT PARKING METERS IN SOME RESIDENTIAL MID CITY NEIGHBORHOODS.  COUNCILMAN MCKEOWN'S LETTER ADVISING THE CITY TO HALT THAT ACTION IS BELOW.  THANK YOU, KEVIN:

(From Councilman McKeown)

At least one neighborhood group has already contacted me concerned that
new parking meters were apparently about to be installed, and that the
dialogue with residents I directed when the meters were before the Council
some months ago had not been initiated.

I immediately protested any pending installation without that dialogue.

This afternoon, I got the following assurance from the City Manager’s
office, regarding the Planning Department:

>David and his staff met this morning to discuss the installation of
>meters on 10th and 11th Streets and Arizona, near the Broad Stage. They
>are going to reach out to the Mid-Cities Neighborhood organization and
>schedule a meeting with them to discuss the proposed installation of
>meters and describe the parking improvements planned for their
>neighborhood. They will also reach out to other neighborhood
>organizations and offer to meet with them regarding installation of
>meters in their area. No meters will be installed before they either hold
>meetings with the neighbors or hear back from them that they do not wish
>to meet.

Thanks,

Kevin
