RESOLUTION ON NUISANCE PROPERTY ORDINANCE
The membership of Santa Monica Mid City Neighbors respectfully requests that the Santa Monica City Council direct city staff to begin drafting an ordinance to deal with nuisance properties. Part of this ordinance should require that construction sites are not idle for more than 180 days or financial penalties will be incurred.

RESOLUTION ON 1223 11th STREET LANDMARK DESIGNATION
The membership of Santa Monica Mid City Neighbors hereby endorses the preservation of the 105 year-old bungalow at 1223 11th Street while securing protection from pending demolition by the Landmarks Commission. This pristine California Craftsman bungalow is a uniquely Southern California architectural type, and this street area has the most significant and cohesive concentration of century old bungalows in the Mid City Neighborhood.

Creating this landmark would begin to conserve the unique character of the neighborhood and its architecture, preserve low-rise density with open green spaces, and because many of these bungalow residences are rental units with families, preservation will help maintain affordable housing and a diverse Santa Monica.

We therefore are honored to support our committee the Friends of 11th Coalition comprised of groups and individuals throughout the community who support the Landmark Designation of 1223 11th Street, and are dedicated to preserving this vanishing breed of iconic architecture.
