To help in marking your ballot, Santa Monica Mid City Neighbors brings residents a week of presentations on local Santa Monica Measures and Candidates. Tomorrow night's monthly board meeting starts with speakers on Measures GSH and GS. The former related to a possible one-half percent increase in local use tax and the latter is the companion advisory vote on what to do with the funds if approved. Then we will discuss Measure SM that seeks to increase accountability of elected officials and decrease potential "kickbacks" from their relationships with city vendors. Thursday, October 20th, we hold our second Santa Monica College Board of Trustees Candidate Forum with Vice President and Government Affairs Officer, Andrew Hoyer, officiating. All candidates have agreed to attend. These include the three incumbents (Margaret Quinones-Perez, Rob Greenstein Rader, Susan Aminoff) and Sion Roy who currently sits on the Santa Monica College Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee. This committee meets tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. and is open to the public. The Agenda can be found at: http://www.smc.edu/ACG/CitizensBondOversightCommittee/Documents/10-19-2016%20Notice%20.pdf. The Santa Monica College Bond Measure V was presented at our September board meeting. More information on Measure V can be found at: http://www.smvote.org/BallotMeasures/detail.aspx?id=53687094798. On a lighter note, your Board of Directors will be cooking chili for the neighborhood, Sunday, October 30th, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Colorado Center. You can find a flyer for our Fall Family Festival attached to this email. We have a fortune teller, polka and our Dessert Divas will be back with sweets for all. Costumes are welcome. See you down the road, Stacy Stacy Dalgleish, President Santa Monica Mid City Neighbors [email protected] MidCityNeighbors.org
